[00:03:45] So today we are speaking with the securities Commission of the Bahamas, speaking with Krishna Higgins, who is the manager of enforcement. I got that right. Yes, sir. Steve Bonamy, who's also in the enforcement department. [00:04:05] Drexlea Bootlea. [00:04:10] Oh, I must be dyslexic Drelexia Boodle you from Abigail. Yes. Oh, goodness. So it was a senior officer. [00:04:23] Senior officer and office of the executive director and responsible for investor education and communication. And you know what we're talking about today? [00:04:32] We're talking about investment and protecting your money, et cetera. Because as I understand it, this is World Investor Week. Iosco's World Investor the Week. Right. Yes, it's the 10th anniversary. Okay, 10th anniversary. Now, first of all. First of all, help us understand what the securities Commission of the Bahamas is first. What is. What is it? What does it do? [00:04:57] Good afternoon, everyone. [00:04:58] Basically, the securities Commission of the Bahamas is responsible for regulating and overseeing the capital markets in the Bahamas. So the securities, investment funds, financial and corporate service providers, digital asset and registered exchanges, carbon credit trading, basically under that scope. So all that activity where people are trying to invest money to make money, and a lot of. And especially when it's being done in the public arena, Right? Yes. Okay. Okay. So there's plenty who may. Who may have been involved with that. And people generally don't sometimes think about this, but you cannot just get up and be offering people Bester services, investment offerings, etc. You can't just do that. I mean, that's. You can't do that. [00:05:54] No, you can't. Why? Why can't I not do that? Because. Because there's legislation in place that tells you that you have to be licensed to do that. Oh, I see. Okay. And this is so. Because what if I decide, you know, I've been to school, I've been to university, I've been trained in finance, I'm trained in investment. You know, I've been. I know this stuff, like offer myself to people and tell them, listen, man, don't buy that stock. Don't, don't, don't invest in that fund and so forth and so forth. I can't just do that. [00:06:29] No. I can't just go to the business license office and set up a investment advising office. [00:06:36] You can get the license from the business licensing office, but you also have to get a license from the securities Commission. Yes. You need to be vetted by the Commission. Okay. All right. Okay. So let's lay in the foundation for your work. [00:06:52] In the course of your work, you work with an international organization that deals with institutions like yours. What's that? The International Organization of securities Commission, Iosco. [00:07:05] And that's one of the main reasons we're here. Right. Like you mentioned, it's World Investor Week. [00:07:11] And this year, the major themes for Ioscos. World Investor Week Are investor resilience, digital deception, and scam alert Me. Oh, sorry, we need you to go right in the. Speak right into the microphone, please. [00:07:29] And so we're here today predominantly to advise the general public on how to be a safe and smart investment and generally how to avoid scam activity. [00:07:40] Because you, you, that's your money and you want to keep it. But there are things we have to, to be careful of. Yeah, right. [00:07:49] I don't. I have an email. I have several email addresses. [00:07:54] I got a phone. [00:07:56] I can't tell you how many things come across my email, come across my WhatsApp. From time to time I get calls and so forth and so forth. But I'm so, so aware and conscious that, you know, you gotta be so careful that I really. Sometimes I just miss legitimate stuff. [00:08:18] Tell us about that. A lot of people aren't aware of how easily it is, how easy it is to get their information. [00:08:25] Last week I got an email from a colleague of mine saying that they had an ill relative and they were selling the entire home. [00:08:35] And you can tell it wasn't the vehicles, all of the assets weren't located in the Bahamas. But it is an email that I recognize it is from this person's actual email account. [00:08:47] Some people would stop there. You know, it's an American telephone number. [00:08:52] So that tells me, you know, something is off. [00:08:55] And to counteract something like that, the best solution, if you have another, a telephone number or you know, where the person lives or works, contact them through a different avenue to verify whether or not the email or the telephone call or the text message that you got actually came from them. Because digital deception is very much so on the rise. And AI has turned it into something where it's very difficult to determine what's reality and what is a hallucination because people are sending stuff with logos of legitimate companies. [00:09:35] I mean, if you look at, on the face of it, everything look like it looks in order. Yeah, right. But you know, you have to independently research it. Right. Independently verify it. You know, sometimes we're very excited when you see a good opportunity, but you have to do your due diligence and not what I refer to as being cash fished. [00:09:55] Because you have people, they just. Once your money is in their hand, that's it. Yeah. And so you have to. And they can't come to you, you and tell you, you know, you could help me recover my money. That's not how the securities Commission work. Right. You know, the reality is hardly any funds that are stolen, you know, stolen in the fraud or scam is returned. Very few. I think last year we looked at a study where around 4% of the funds that are stolen in a scam are able to be returned 4%. And the last time the security numbers in the billions. In terms of annually, would this represent one trillion? [00:10:33] Oh my. Just for 20, 25. [00:10:37] That ain't nine zeros after the one, folks. That's 12 zeros after the one. A lot. That's a lot of money. That's a lot of scamming, right? The economy of the Bahamas, maybe 13 billion if you stretch it. [00:10:52] And we're talking about trillion dollars worth of scam and fraud and what have you. [00:10:58] And you know, is it true that these scams tend to increase when people seem to have a tighter financial situation somehow the crooks know, I don't know, you know, like, is that so? Like, like you would think when things are bad or get not as good, people back off. But no, they start to come out more, it seems. It's like they can smell the desperation. [00:11:24] And you know, when you're desperate, you're looking for anything to hold on to. And so if someone, you know, your money is running real low and they say, you know, I have this opportunity, it's worked for me, it's worked for my aunt, it's worked for my cousin. You say, hold on now, okay, let me try this because I really need something right now. And so the desperation is what leads a lot of people into making poor investment decisions. And as you indicated in the digital space. Now this is getting revved up because the other day I saw this was last year, sometimes somebody sent me a video. It was me and Prime Minister Davis pitching a wonderful investment scheme. The deep fakes. [00:12:05] I mean, like it was my face, my voice, I said, no, it's not Prime Minister Davis. And we are talking about financial opportunities. I mean, it's crazy. Yeah. And that's where the independent verification would come in. You know, you have to do your due diligence. That's how I knew because somebody texted me, says, for real? I was like, bro, seriously, me and the Prime Minister, I believe there was one as well with the governor Central government. That's right. That's right. So they, so, so these are scammers and not using wild things that people might, might suspect right away. They use figures they think people will be drawn to, they think should have some credibility. I mean, why wouldn't the government of the central bank have a good investment opportunity available? Right. [00:12:56] What else should people be looking out for when we are Looking at this area of fraud and scam outside of, you know, do you do like walk us through the things people should be looking out for? Yeah, I would say one of the top ones. Definitely be wary of someone rushing you. Okay. They don't want to give you time to really think it through. Okay. They don't want to give you time to research it. They don't want you to talk to too many people about it. It's right now. If you don't get in this right now, you won't have an opportunity. [00:13:28] So red flag, red flag. Rush, rush, rush, rush, rush, rush, rush, rush. And you know, and then you got to keep this secret because you know, if you too many people know, it's not going to be as big an opportunity. So you know me, you know, this between us, I'm just going to give you an opportunity. You're a first in kind of person, so forth and so forth. The last thing they want is you to actually sit and think about it. Okay. So that's a good red flag. If people don't want you think about it, thinking can cause them a problem. All right, we have a call on the line already, so can we do that? Yes, go ahead, call it. We're listening to you. Hey, good afternoon. How are you? Hey, right here, man. What's up? Right here. And good afternoon to you, your guests in the studio. [00:14:07] Hope things are going great. Great conversation so far. And good afternoon. Just wanted to bring something to the attention and get your feedback. Chevalgo. But also the officials from the securities Commission feedback if they could cross into that area. Regarding commercial banks, you have a scenario where you, you notice unauthorized transactions from your debit card. Right. You report that to the commercial bank, local commercial bank. Right. [00:14:38] You go in as well and you make a formal report. Right. [00:14:41] And a few days after an amount somewhere between 5, $10,000 is withdrawn from your account. Unauthorized withdrawn from your account. Withdrawal from your account. [00:14:57] What are your thoughts on Chicago, yourself and the officials from the. [00:15:04] We're here from. We hear from them. We'll hear from them first. But before we do, do we have a volume issue, a problem at all? Because I'm have a text that's saying it's that my volume is very low. [00:15:17] I can't see how that's. I don't, I can't see how that's the case, but that's what they're saying. I can check their end of the thing. Okay, go ahead, go ahead. [00:15:26] Thanks for the question. But what I would say to you is that is A matter that you would have to report to the central bank of the Bahamas. The Securities Commission does not regulate banks in the country. That's, that's the function of the central bank. And yes, you need to do that. Unauthorized withdrawals from your account because you only have a fixed number of days to report it before you become fully liable and will take the loss. So you best report that to central bank as quickly as you can. [00:15:59] But the first report, I mean, if you see something on your card, you think, yes, right, you should go to your bank, tell the officer, listen, this is what I'm seeing. I didn't authorize this. I don't know what's going on here. And then you might need to escalate it after that. But I think, you know, and I've known so many people who've been caught up in this. I mean, lots and lots of people. [00:16:19] Oh, they tell me, you know, somebody took money. I don't know how it happened. Then they come to me because they say they're not getting sufficient action from the bank. And so maybe you know somebody and you say, you know, really in a bad way, they need them, you know, and so you try to do something. But that is happening. Yeah. And as Mr. Barnaby said, being swift is the best tool that a person can use in any kind of fraud or scam because the longer you wait, the less likely it is that your funds may be returned. You know, just act very, very quickly. So red flag number one, they rush in you. Red flag number two, they, they like to tell you that, that the return on your investment is guaranteed. [00:17:02] No red flag right away. Returns can never be guaranteed. Even the government of the Bahamas and the US and others have bonds and there are interest rates attached to the bonds. The interest rates are to the risk. The risk is something of uncertainty. Ain't nothing Satan on the planet. Right? Correct. That's right. Right. So guarantee, the word guarantee is a red flag. [00:17:23] You know, there's some people believe that there is guarantee you could guarantee. You know, there's some people believe that, right? Yes. Okay. [00:17:31] See, the thing about, the thing about scamming is this. It doesn't say much about the people who are scamming you. [00:17:40] It says a lot about the people who respond to scammers. [00:17:44] Mind you something, you have to be, you have to be sensible. If you work hard for your money, why do you want to just give it to someone who, who gives you a dream, who sells you a dream? Yeah. If it's too good to be true, it is probably Very likely is right. [00:18:00] Not true. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, so red flag number three. [00:18:04] One that's really prevalent is stranger danger. You get a message from someone you don't know at all and you're trying to figure out how they got your number, how they got your email. They're Messaging you on WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, and you don't know this person. [00:18:22] That alone should tell you that something is off because how did they even find you and prompted them to give you this stranger, this opportunity of a lifetime. [00:18:34] It sounds a bit old. Live in a Judeo Christian environment and bless the Lord. Thank you, Jesus. Oh he. [00:18:42] I prayed about this, I fasted about this. And oh, sugar. And the fact that a stranger. That's just. I'm telling you. Yeah, that's all we think. Yeah. But stranger danger. Stranger danger, Right. The likelihood that someone of the. [00:18:56] A soldier, the person, a scammer. You are a soldier and you are usa. [00:19:02] Get your boy to move. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. You should have tell me use it for saying cat island or something. [00:19:09] But this is, this is the kind of stuff that's happening, right. That people need to be stranger danger. Anything else we need to be aware of as a red flag, I'd say pig butchering. Pig butchering is pig butchering or romance scam. Oh, okay. And it's, it's called romance scams. But it can also be in the sphere of a friendship. Okay. And so they get close to you, they build a relationship and once they feel like, you know, they have you in their clutches, then here's the investment opportunity. You're alone, You're a non believer. This is how I start. [00:19:43] Oh, child from the Bahamas. No, you see, you're the wrong number. [00:19:50] This is not child's. Oh, who is this? I'm Blah blah from so so and so and so and so. Oh, and I've been to the Bahamas, etc, etc, etc. That's what happens. The conversation. That's the bill. Yeah, yeah. And whenever that happens, whenever someone's on the phone that you don't know, just hang up. Yep, that's my, that's my. First of all, you didn't get two minutes of my time now. But Mom, I'm sorry, you got to go. Enough is enough. Enough is enough. Call on the line. Go ahead, call it. We're listening to you right here, man. What's up? [00:20:22] These, these people, these people are doing that. These people are doing their jobs. They came to give you information. [00:20:29] Trust me on this. About two weeks late, my phone rang like about 2:30 in the morning, Rick. Okay, there you go. Your boy tell someone the first thing. Only two things people got blocked before someone dead. [00:20:41] Okay, I'll call them to come over and trust me. Mikey out there looking outside of me. She playing like she's sleeping. [00:20:49] All I hear is this Chinese man on the phone with the light I custom so sticking people 2 o' clock in the morning, a different time zone. [00:20:59] No, these people evidently don't do their research on black people. Black people don't answer their phone to o' clock in the morning. [00:21:05] He didn't check the time. He might. [00:21:09] Mr. Lang. I cast this man all you as blankety. Blank, blank, blank, blank, blank, blank, blank. 2:30 in the morning. [00:21:17] I. I got a text one time from someone saying they were in California number because I checked. [00:21:25] They think you know. [00:21:26] Yeah. They think you and you are not alert enough to know. You could check some stuff yourself. That's what we mean by doing. You do your due diligence, right. And verifying. Right. I mean proactively, right. When we are looking at investments we really ought to. It never should be coming from out of the blue, should it? Right? I mean basically your environment is an environment, you know. [00:21:53] You know and you can, you can be looking in it and where you can touch, feel, call, connect, contact. The people who are baking offerings to you, right? To be, to be looking at all the way across the globe at people, people who are telling you you can make a payment through wired to credit card or go to the transfer people place, you know, on that kind of stuff. That's. That, that's for me, that's a red flag because I know that once the money gone that's the end of it, right? [00:22:24] And that has happened to some people. [00:22:27] One of the most important things you can do when someone, someone approaches you with an investment opportunity, you should check to make sure that they are professional and they're licensed. [00:22:39] Yeah, but if they call in from away, how you know that? Hang up the phone. I tell you that if they call them from away, how you could do that? Hang up the phone. But if they call him from away, how you will know? [00:22:49] You don't have to know because you, you. Because you should be investing in the. Hang up the phone. Hang up the phone. That's what I only want you to say it three times. [00:22:58] Seriously, right? I mean I can't check nothing about you. Nothing I can really do. And going online to go check a web page, is that safe? If that is that a great assurance that I. This is A legitimate somebody. No, lots of web, lots of websites are phony. Exactly right. And so, and this is the, this is, this has been in fact one of the great advantages for small businesses, but also one of the disadvantages. A small business can look huge on a website. [00:23:26] And so that's why you have to be careful. A person can look legitimate on a website. [00:23:31] What, what has risen also is that there are, there are scams that are presented on the wet on the Internet where they are teaching you to trade. [00:23:44] And when they ask you to send them money, they actually manufacture a, an actual trade site really specifically for you. Really. And you can watch the money go up, really. You can watch the performance of what you're supposed to be trading. Really. So there could be a fake crypto site out there telling me I'm trading in crypto and actually have me doing the trading. And I thinking I'm getting something and, and I'm putting more and more and more and more and more money into this because I think look at where my thing is now, right? That's right. And you won't realize until you try a substantial sum out. Wow. And then they'll tell you to send some dark. Yeah, yeah. Then you need to send more money because of fees. Yes. Then you need to send more money because they have to process it this place or that place or the next place or you're doing an early withdrawal. So that's another fee. And you have fee on top of fee on top of fee until. Oh, you know, well, there's not really much left. Maybe you should just continue trading. [00:24:45] We're gonna take a break right now, but when we come back. [00:24:48] Can you speak? Think that only average catered people are getting scammed. When we come back. Ladies and gentlemen, you're listening to Z Live. I'm Shivagalang, your host. We're here with the Security Commission of the Bahamas, their enforcement department. And 10th and IOSCO will be back after this break. [00:25:21] Managing your investments just got easier with RF bank and Trust. [00:28:56] Welcome back. Welcome back ladies and gentlemen to Z Live. I'm Chevago Lang, your host. So glad that you could join us here Today on Guardian Radio, 96.9 FM on this beautiful Friday afternoon. I mean, I'm playing no music. We trying to protect your mutant money today. And we're speaking with the securities Commission of the Bahamas, which is recognizing the 10th annual World Investor Week with Iosco. [00:29:23] And the theme is say it again for us. [00:29:28] Investor resilience, digital deception and scam alerts. Okay, so we've been talking about all the ways in which people try to scam people and all the ways you ought to be alert these people present to scam you. [00:29:42] It is not uncommon for people to think, oh, only uneducated people get scammed. Only people who are low income get scammed. Who gets scammed? Well, I can tell you according to the Global Alliance. [00:29:56] I think it's the global. [00:30:00] Each person is exposed to possible scale scam activity about 350 times per year. Wow. [00:30:10] Now that differs depending on the region and your access of course to social media. [00:30:15] But everyone is susceptible to scam activity and, and have it's every category of people. Yes. It's not attached to intellect, it's not attached to class, it's not attached to jurisdiction. Any and every one. [00:30:31] If you decide not to do your due diligence, don't think it through, you don't do your research, you are susceptible to becoming a victim of a scam. Like, because to be clear, Bernie Madoff wasn't doing his, his thing with no low. These were very sophisticated, wealthy people, right? Correct. [00:30:52] And you see where it got them. Yep, lots and lots and lots, lots and lots of losses. [00:30:57] Now the other thing is because you know, I'm a good Christian and you know, my pastor is a great man, woman, and I believe that they will only guide me in the right direction. And so if my pastor bring for me the man from Alabama, Michigan, with a nice scheme that says, okay, when you get me 10 people, then they make some money, then you get get portion of that and then if they bring 10 people, then you get a portion of that and that too, and so forth and so forth. And it's just, I mean, how can we lose? [00:31:32] That is the basic structure of a scam. [00:31:35] Yeah, but my past, my pastor introduced us to the man from Michigan, from North Carolina though. That's because, that's because the people who are being approached, they have confidence in the person who's presenting the scam to them like their pastor. [00:31:54] And so they feel that it is something genuine. So if you are a leader, you know, you have a name for what happens in these circumstances. What's it called affinity. It's called an affinity scan. An affinity scan. Yes, because it's coming through someone I am familiar with, trust, have confidence in. Correct. Okay. So if you're a leader of a flock, you're a leader of an organization. You, you are a leader of a school. [00:32:21] Like I, I think you all helped me this before. If, if I help a scheme happen, did I commit a crime? Yes, you are, absolutely. I don't know you guys. I mean, you can't tell me I the pastor, but I can't. You telling me that I'm committing a fraud? If I help somebody facilitate a scheme, then we discover it. Yes. Promoting financial schemes such as pyramid schemes and Ponzi schemes was criminalized in the Bahamas in 2020 when the financial and Corporate Service Providers act was passed. So you could be a good deacon and you could really be committing a crime by facilitating these things. That is correct. Absolutely. And the crime is punishable by up to 100,000 and all the prison time. But I only, I only arranged the meetings for the presentation. Yeah, you're promoting, you're promoting. [00:33:15] Well, I only distribute the flyers for the members to come. Yes. Okay, okay. [00:33:23] I only try to get you a little information so you know. Right. These additionally now we. Yes, sir. And we, and we do have, we do have information and evidence that these types of scams are spreading throughout the Bahamas. Now let me ask you a question. [00:33:42] So Amway is a multi level marketing program. Amway. But they sold the product. I only want you to let the people, let them know, man. [00:33:53] I want. You see, folks, what's the difference between a scam and a multi level marketing program which is a legitimate investment business opportunity. Is that underlying the thing? There's always a product to be sold. So the money initially being made is being made from the sale of products. [00:34:13] So if they come to your church, you, you get money on the basis of bringing me people. [00:34:19] And they cannot answer the question what are we selling? Then that's a problem. And how are we making the money? And how we making the money? Well, we know how we making the money. We making the money bringing new people and so forth. So forth. But, but at the basically be some product or service sold right now. We've been talking with international people a lot, right. Behem don't scam people though. Yes, they do. No, B don't scam people. No, nobody's been scammed by B. Yes they do. Okay. [00:34:45] Scammers faces, international scammer, same thing. Exactly. A scammer is a scammer. And Some Bahamian scammers actually connected with foreign scammers and just use their same plan. [00:35:00] But we don't have like professionals don't do this, right. We're not professional scammers. We're not people who like, you know, sophisticated, educated people who scamming people in the Bahamas. Though I don't know if, if scamming activity is discriminatory. [00:35:15] Yeah, I don't know if you'd call it sophisticated either. So find greed everywhere. So I should be careful just because you wearing a suit and I maybe even up and happen to know you are good lawyer, doctor, Indian chief, I still need to exercise all the cautions. That means nothing. Same thing. Same, same thing. But I'm in the car selling business, right. You know, I just TV off from my law firm and I selling cars and trading cars now. But I need you to give me that money up front, right? [00:35:45] I need you to give me that money up front. [00:35:48] But you nearly give me any detail details about a lot of. I can't verify what should I do in that circumstance. Somebody offered sell me car. [00:35:59] The thing is, when a person offers you an investment, a legitimate investment can be explained in little to no time. It will be clear because the person explaining the or offering the investment to you should have done their work. And so they know what they are offering you inside and out. So they don't have to fancy dance with the words. They don't have to tell you, just trust me, just trust me. And you will see, you will see, they're able to explain it to you very quickly, very easily, and you're able to understand. So mud, muddiness is a red flag. It is a red flag and definitely if you can't understand it, don't do it. Do you know that Warren Buffett says Bill Gates, when Bill Gates asked him to invest in Microsoft in the early days, he said to Bill Gates, I don't understand computers, so I can't do it. This is, this is a sophisticated investor. He says he doesn't. And he doesn't invest in what he cannot understand. Exactly. And the other thing too, when someone wants you to make an investment in an activity, it should be documented and then there should be an offering memorandum issued. But that offering memorandum has to be approved by the securities Commission. Okay, okay. And oftentimes itself tells you there are risks associated with this. And this offering wraparound does not represent a guarantee of a return on investment. [00:37:25] All right, ladies and gentlemen, we got to take a break. We got lots of text here from folks. Yep. [00:37:31] Yeah. And so we'll take a break for news and then when we come back, we will read the text so you can answer their questions. [00:37:38] All right? Okay. All right, ladies and gentlemen, we'll be right back after the news break. [00:38:03] You try to rest rope with the best for all your printing deeds There ain't no one better no. [00:41:31] Take a stand. [00:41:33] Take a stand. [00:41:34] Everybody. Everybody come take my. Come take my. [00:41:52] Welcome back ladies and gentlemen. To see live, I'm Shavar Rolling, your host. So glad you could do join us here today on Guardian Radio, 96.9 FM. On this beautiful Friday afternoon. We are going to be finishing up with the securities Commission of the Bahamas in a minute. The enforcement department. [00:42:09] Some of you are complaining about volume. Listen, it depends. It could depend on what medium you are using to listen. Okay, so I hear you complaining, but maybe you need to switch up with something else because I got people who are saying it's perfectly clear, all right? And so just be aware of that. And yes, I am very aware of the passing of the one and only Spocky. And I am going to be addressing that because I wanted that to be the last thing we talk about so we can do justice to his contributions to these shows as unique as. As it was. [00:42:55] So this, the week, what have you been, what have you all been doing for the week? What is, you know, you know, and what's, what's what, what is there going forward? [00:43:06] So basically for the entire week we've been doing radio appearances. So we've been basically on every radio station. I did hear you a couple of times because you know, every radio station has different audiences. So we're trying to reach everybody to educate them on the topic. [00:43:25] We've also done school visits, so we have a financial literacy program implemented into the school. So we've done it here in New Providence and we have expanded to the family island. So we've done Abaco already. And we have a team currently, Ian Izumo, who's doing a financial literacy course at the high school, Ellen Coakley. Today we've also launched a podcast called Mind Over Money. So the first episode of that has already launched on our social media page. So for persons they can check that out. And basically the first episode was to build awareness. It's is about exploring the emotional emotions and behavioral biases that shape financial decisions. So it's aimed to build awareness, self recognition, not to give investment advice so listeners are better equipped to recognize and pause before making pressured financial decisions. [00:44:25] We've had a few take five with the Seb informational videos that have been airing on cable Bahama this week on different topics as it relates to digital securities Commission. [00:44:37] What should you invest in? What should you do if you get scammed as well as the red flags you should look out for. [00:44:44] And though World Investor Week is wrapping up, the Prime Minister did proclaim the October to be Investor Education Month. So the securities Commission isn't ending just on Sunday with this. So you should be seeing a lot of more content coming out online from the securities Commission. So what should you do if you get scammed? [00:45:10] Depending on the scam of course, but if it is an avenue where the activity might be regulated. So with the first caller the banks and banking system, you should contact central bank, you should contact the police FIU figure out who more than likely is the authority to deal with that issue. If it, let's say it's an insurance scam, you know, you'd go to the Insurance Commission of the Bahamas. But in all aspects I would say contact the police because if you're not absolutely. And if you're not certain where to go from there, they will be able to direct you to the respective regulator. Should that be be something that needs to happen because the police. So you all know the police has a financial crime division. Absolutely, yeah. Yeah. So. So they, they would know how to pursue these things in the right way. [00:46:08] Anything else we should note before you make your departure? [00:46:16] Basically just reiterating what you should do in the event if you know you've been a victim of an investment fraud, then you should definitely contact the commission. [00:46:26] Our contact information is infocb.gov ps our number is 3974100 or you could simply visit our website to file a [email protected] BS also you can also, you can also check on our website our World Investor Week page to check out more things we've done for the week and what we're doing for the month or if you can even come in person to our office which is on East Bay Street Ponte Ann House to make your complaint in person and you could speak directly to someone in enforcement. I know on your website there are lots, there's lots of information that people can get like frequently asked questions about matters related to fraud or you know, I think you can find out who is a registered provider, these kinds of things. [00:47:24] If you're not sure if the person you're dealing with is a licensed professional, you can visit our website. We update a monthly registered and registered and licensee listing on persons who are licensed licensed with the commission to give financial advice and carry out investments. [00:47:43] So, yeah, everything is on our website. We have an investor center on our website as well. Gives out many tips and advice on how to move forward for people who simply just want to know how to invest or how to start investing. So we have many resources on our website for persons to check out. [00:48:02] Well, ladies, thank you very much, sir. Good day to you. Used to come on the radio. And easily taking almost forever to get to this point, but he made so much good contribution. And I feel like we've lost a person who'd been telling us the history of our Bahamas. And he told us so much stuff, but we never even knew. It's like, Bahamas, they lost a great giant and talk show, you know, personality. [01:04:51] I mean, it's like, wow, I hope we get better as a nation, just for Sparky's sake, you know, and you know. And you know, you know. Well, anyway, we're going to talk about Sparky very soon. Thank you so much for calling. Okay. Appreciate you calling. Thanks a lot. [01:10:46] All right, so I know how you are, Dolphin fans. Go. So you know you won't catch that game. You have an opportunity to do so. [01:10:58] You know, the last time I saw Sparky, We were at Sheila Culmer's birthday celebration just this year. [01:11:18] And in his own inimitable way, Sparky was rolling his is walker across the floor and shaking himself to the music and entertaining the folks with his own entertaining way. [01:11:40] And that was the last time I saw Spocky alive. Of course, we've spoken since then on the radio because Spocky is a frequent caller to almost all of these shows and Sparky has made positive contributions in some of his interventions, highlighting challenges that might exist in the community, exist in the country, And passionately advocating for some things that he strongly believed. He was fearless in his criticism of anybody, me, the prime minister, anybody that made no difference to him. And of course, bringing perspectives from his own upbringing, his own life and so forth and so forth. So for many routes, no question, but that many occasions to say to Sparky, man, please, man, please, please, please, please, bring some positivity. Even, even so many, many rows that's part of life use, we pretend it's part of it. [01:12:52] Sparky could be very difficult to deal with on occasions, but then of course, on other occasions, offering great contributions to a dialogue you might be having. [01:13:08] I don't know anyone who would have met Spocky who would say, I don't remember Spocky. [01:13:15] I don't know anybody. Because he had a dynamic, forceful personality, was forthright, sometimes Too forthright, sometimes offensively so. But you know he was himself and he was unabashed about being his authentic and he in spark. He took occasion to. [01:13:52] Thank the people who supported and helped him as he got to the hospital and to lay out the problems he had at the hospital. [01:14:05] That's baki. [01:14:07] And so we express deep condolences to his family and to his friends on his passing and no doubt his voice will be missed in these talk show communities and. [01:14:31] We pray comfort for all those who love him, cherish them. [01:14:45] When all is said and done I want you all to believe me when I say when all is said and done whatever you do on this, in this world, if it's done in love, there's a reward that awaits if it's done in love Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels but I have not charity, have not love. [01:15:17] I am like a sounding brass and a tingling cymbal. [01:15:25] Whatever we do, whenever we do, should be our great aim to be motivated to do it by love. So I wanted you to listen to a song. Here I was. I love it, love it, the clarity, the passion. [01:15:44] I always love it. [01:15:46] So I'll play this for you. [01:15:48] Enjoy. [01:16:12] Please give a helping hand job to guide all of us together.
